Google Maps

The sixth grade class gained a better understanding of geography terms using Google Maps. Analyzing satellite photographs of different places around the world gave each student the opportunity to see the meaning or aerial photographs and observe mapping terms. Sixth grade student selected a location of their choice, gathered information and compared different photographs.  They enjoyed sharing their findings with the whole class.

Summer Reading Projects

As the first full week of school came to a close, so did the seventh and eighth graders Summer Reading Projects. The students shared their choice of a  non-fiction novel and presented what they learned in a video or PowerPoint format. Topics ranged from sports figures to historical events and showed student’s vast interests.  All scholars put worth a tremendous amount of effort and did an outstanding job!

Ellie the Elephant Comes to ACS

Most kids love animals, but not all kids are aware of the horrors that elephants and other animals in circuses face, so PETA’s new walking, talking 6.5-foot-tall robot elephant named Ellie decided to come to Assumption School and tell students what goes on behind the big walls of many circuses and zoo. Elle has taught kids that elephants belong in the wild, with their families, and that they suffer in captivity, where they’re subjected to abuse and unable to engage in natural behavior. Ellie’s visit was a huge hit with children and they all appreciated the educational message.

Welcome back to ACS!

We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning.

The vision of the Ukrainian Catholic Bishops over a half century ago led to the establishment of Assumption Catholic School in Perth Amboy NJ that currently is the largest elementary Ukrainian Catholic School in America. Over the years, thousands of students have called the school their second home and with their parents, created many positive memories. Among the many gratifying moments are when alumni return to register their own children to give them the Assumption Catholic experience.

ACS is a small parochial school administered by the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. AdvancEd accredited, the school provides a Christ-centered, Catholic environment to a diverse population of pre-kindergarten (age 4) through 8th-grade students. Before Care and After Care are available. The school is entering its 54th year of operation and is situated in a middle class residential neighborhood. The building and parking lot (playground) constitute about half a city block, with the balance of the block being the church, rectory, and convent. To receive more information about the school, call 732-826-8721 or visit www.assumptioncatholicschool.net

Renovating Before the School Bell Rings.

While students are on summer vacation, the school administration have been busy this summer making improvements to school building. Our maintenance staff under the direction of a new genitor Mrs. Lesya Androshchuk spent the part of the summer scrubbing, waxing floors and repairing broken or damaged items in order to get our school ready for students. This summer, we have upgraded our school with new tables for the school auditorium and new tables and chairs for the cafeteria. The doors of the cleanest and most welcoming school are open. Parents, we know you want the best for your children! So do we! If you are interested in a school tour during the summer, just give us a call 732-826-8721 and we will arrange a date and time for the visit.
