Christopher Columbus

In honor of Columbus Day the first grade class watched a short video in which they learned about the life of Christopher Columbus. They then pretended they were explorers like him and discovered America and created mini writing craftivity projects. They all had great ideas about what they would find!

Autumn Leaves Are Falling Down

The pre-k class has been enjoying the changing of the season and learning about leaves and how they change colors in the autumn. Today they went on a leaf hunt to collect leaves around our school, and used them to paint leaf prints.

The Five Senses Of Fall

As our science lesson we learned about the five senses and related them to the season of Fall. The students had fun coming up as a class with different ideas to compete this mini project. They are very proud of their work!

Family School Association Meeting.

Thanks to everyone that attended our first FSA Meeting tonight. It was great to see a lot of new faces mixed in with some familiar ones. We had a lot of business to take care of and we appreciate your contribution in getting it all done! At our first meeting, Mrs. Shumny spoke about the new Language Arts program being successfully implemented at ACS. The FSA President Mr. Daly spoke about the upcoming Christmas Bazaar and many other activities sponsored by FSA this year. We look forward to seeing more parents at our future meetings and continuing our mission of providing a wonderful environment and a fun educational experience for our students!

Buddy Projects

The 7th graders worked together with both the 1st and 2nd graders on their first Buddy Projects of the year titled, "Getting to Know You." The students spent time completing a stained glass crucifix project and getting to know one another in hopes to build a community of friendship between the lower school and middle school students. See you next month Buddies!

Outdoor Movie Night: Finding Nemo.

On September 24, nearly 100 ACS parents, students and siblings gathered for the school’s first Back to School Movie Night Under the Stars. The crisp autumn air was a little bit chilly, but the sun was warm today and everyone enjoyed the movie Finding Nemo. Thanks to all teachers who sponsored this event, all the parents and FSA volunteers who worked to set-up, prepared hotdogs, hamburgers, popcorn, baked goods, soft drinks and helped to clean-up. What a wonderful way to strengthen our ACS Community.
