What a night!!

Graduation of Class 2022

Assumption Catholic School is proud to present our 53rd graduating Eighth Grade class.
Nineteen strong, smart, funny, kind, helpful teenagers prayed together Saturday morning with their teachers and families joining them in Divine Liturgy. They received their diplomas from Mrs. Shumny and Father Ivan, and then it was picture time. Afterwards, students and their families came back to school for their breakfast and awards ceremony. Our Valedictorian, Alayne, Salutatorian, Ethan, and Honorable Mention, Kiera made speeches and then awards were handed out. Each student received recognition for clubs and activities they participated in, and received monetary awards donated by teachers, parishioners and supporters of our school. Our generous supporters donated over $8000 to our graduates to recognize our students’ achievements in school subjects, community service, honoring their heritage and living their faith. The weather was perfect and the ceremony was beautiful. Congratulations to our graduates!

7th Grade Farewell Dinner for the Class of 2022

This week, the Class of 2023 hosted a graduation dinner for the Class of 2022 that included some fun entertainment. After the seventh grade welcomed the graduating class with a memorable dinner, the Class 2022 ended the evening by reading their Last Will and Testament. Our special thanks go  to the 7th grade teacher Mrs. Lombardi  and 8th grade teacher Mrs. Pickering for preparing a very good program of recitations, songs, and speeches.

Alice in Wonderland.

What a beautiful night to catch a great performance! Our school  children’s production of Alice in Wonderland was an overwhelming. ACS’s 21 CCLC Senior Drama group did a fantastic job in their rendition of Alice in Wonderland.
The songs, the costumes and the funny lines were just the beginning!  Our students worked so hard and it showed in their excitement and stellar performance.
We are so proud of all our actors! We thank our directors Mrs. Pickering and Mrs. Cooper, makeup artist Miss Shumny, our sound system Coordinators Mr. and Mrs. Baginsky and all our parents.
We can’t wait until the next play!

Happy Vyshyvanka Day!

Today, ACS students and teachers join Ukrainians around the world in celebrating an important part of our cultural heritage – Ukrainian embroidery.

A vyshyvanka is a traditional Ukrainian shirt showcasing symbolic hand-embroidered designs, and each region of Ukraine has a distinctive pattern.

First Penance and Solemn Communion Class of 2022

Congratulations to 17 parish and 14 school children who received their First Penance and Solemn Holy Communion today! Our parish offers its most sincere congratulations and prayerful best wishes to them on this most important event in their lives. Thanks to Sr. Veronica and Sr. Maria for preparing parish children, and Mrs. Kukuruza, 2nd grade, for preparing ACS school students for this joyful day. May God grant them many happy and blessed years because CHRIST IS RISEN!

Mother’s Day Tea!

Some days at ACS are really special. Today was one of those days; it was our Mother’s Day Tea. Moms joined their children for church and then went back to school with them.

The auditorium was decorated beautifully with a pastel and spring time theme. Our youngest students sang for their Moms and third graders recited a poem. All Moms were given carnations and a beautiful prayer card of the Blessed Mother by their children which was followed by tea and doughnuts.

Thanks to FSA for financing the treat, our eighth graders, under Mrs. Pickering’s direction, for setting up, serving, and cleaning up, and Miss Shumny for decorations (especially the balloons).

Liberty Science Center Field trip

ACS students in 21CCLC clubs in grades 3-8 attended their first post pandemic field trip:  destination Liberty Science Center.  The excitement was contagious as we took a short jaunt through the lower level of the museum, and then broke into groups to explore all the exhibits.  A quick trip to the Planetarium allowed us to see New Jersey’s night sky in all its splendor, and we even had a sneak peak of what the lunar eclipse will look like next weekend. Top favorites? Definitely the Dino Dig and the Butterfly Exhibit!

We are so blessed to have had a safe and beautiful day!
