ACS Kindergarten Class of 2022.

Their family and friends cheered them on as they received their diplomas in recognition of all of their hard work. We are so proud of this class and cannot wait to see what they accomplish as first graders. Congratulations ACS Kindergarten class of 2022!

It was STEM day in 2nd grade!

It was STEM day in 2nd grade! First, our young scientists discovered chemical reactions by mixing baking soda with vinegar in empty bottles. The reactions heard in the STEM Lab as the colorful balloons filled with carbon dioxide was sheer glee!  We were so excited that we had to share our discoveries with Mrs. Shumny.  Next, we learned how to make the perfect paper airplane & how they fly.  We tested the airplanes outside and learned that trick to a high flying paper airplane is to fold them with sharp creases.  A fun and interesting day was had by all!

Principal for a day

Principal for a day?  Sign me up!  Several students had a chance to be principal for a day. All they had to do was to get a parent to fill out an income survey.  Winners were randomly picked from the surveys that were returned.
The day started with a lot of enthusiasm and energy. Then Mrs. Shumny gave them some principal business to do. Included on that to do list was a chromebook inventory, a building checklist, and teacher observations. There were many trips made to classrooms to ask questions and deliver papers.
It is safe to say that the best part of the day was lunch with Mrs. Shumny and giving their home room class a no homework pass. Surely 1st grade Anthony and Sullivan, 3rd grade Bianca, 4th grade Dylan, 5th grade Hailey, 6th grade Anthony, and 7th grade Sammy would agree it was great to run the school (but just for one day)!

Donuts with Dads

June 10th was a very special day here at ACS. Students had a chance to bring their dad’s to school for a Donuts with Dads morning. Father Ivan started the day with Divine Liturgy with students sitting with their dads or stepdads. After Liturgy everyone went to the auditorium for a celebration that included donuts and entertainment.

Mrs Shumny welcomed all of the dads/stepdads and then the students entertained with songs and poems, followed by coffee and donuts. Mrs Shumny had several prizes that were given away with a grand prize of $100. She explained that at the Moms’ tea the grand prize was a $100 gift card to a spa. So, the dad that won the $100 could use the money to purchase a gift card for his wife for a trip to a spa! Dads/stepdads ended the morning taking pictures with their children at the special photo spot. Special thanks to the Class of 2023 for serving all of our families. Thank you to the FSA for making this day possible!

Graduation of Class 2022

Assumption Catholic School is proud to present our 53rd graduating Eighth Grade class.
Nineteen strong, smart, funny, kind, helpful teenagers prayed together Saturday morning with their teachers and families joining them in Divine Liturgy. They received their diplomas from Mrs. Shumny and Father Ivan, and then it was picture time. Afterwards, students and their families came back to school for their breakfast and awards ceremony. Our Valedictorian, Alayne, Salutatorian, Ethan, and Honorable Mention, Kiera made speeches and then awards were handed out. Each student received recognition for clubs and activities they participated in, and received monetary awards donated by teachers, parishioners and supporters of our school. Our generous supporters donated over $8000 to our graduates to recognize our students’ achievements in school subjects, community service, honoring their heritage and living their faith. The weather was perfect and the ceremony was beautiful. Congratulations to our graduates!

Alice in Wonderland.

What a beautiful night to catch a great performance! Our school  children’s production of Alice in Wonderland was an overwhelming. ACS’s 21 CCLC Senior Drama group did a fantastic job in their rendition of Alice in Wonderland.
The songs, the costumes and the funny lines were just the beginning!  Our students worked so hard and it showed in their excitement and stellar performance.
We are so proud of all our actors! We thank our directors Mrs. Pickering and Mrs. Cooper, makeup artist Miss Shumny, our sound system Coordinators Mr. and Mrs. Baginsky and all our parents.
We can’t wait until the next play!

Happy Vyshyvanka Day!

Today, ACS students and teachers join Ukrainians around the world in celebrating an important part of our cultural heritage – Ukrainian embroidery.

A vyshyvanka is a traditional Ukrainian shirt showcasing symbolic hand-embroidered designs, and each region of Ukraine has a distinctive pattern.
