ACS FSA Board Projects

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of the ACS FSA Board! 💙
From purchasing microscopes that help bring science to life in our classrooms, to treating our students to a warm, home-cooked pancake breakfast, to providing snacks for our dedicated teachers during parent-teacher conferences — your generosity makes a meaningful difference every single day.
Because of you, our students have enriching experiences and our staff feels supported and appreciated. Thank you for your time, care, and commitment to our school community. We truly couldn’t do it without you!

Palm Sunday Journey

As Holy week approaches the first grade class has begun their Journey with Jesus. Today the class learned about the true meaning of Palm Sunday. Through reading the story in the Bible, watching a video, coloring pictures, making book of the story and creating palm leaves to cover the path Jesus walked on they began to envision that special  day. Now with the class fully understand the importance of Palm Sunday they proceeded to reenact Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The class cheered for Jesus as he walked shouting “Hosanna, Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
As the lesson ended the class reflected on what they had learned and are looking forward to the second part of their Journey with Jesus!
Take a look in the comments for their video❤️

The Lenten Lock-In Retreat.

The retreat took place at Assumption Catholic School in Perth Amboy, NJ as a special overnight experience centered on prayer, fellowship, and a Lenten journey together. Throughout the retreat, students grew deeper in faith with Christ and stronger in friendship. The event included prayer and meditation with Fr. Ivan, as well as a beautiful candle procession at the church. Students participated in a vocation reflection with the Sisters and took part in faith-building activities and games led by the principal and teachers at the school. The retreat also offered meaningful fellowship with classmates, shared meals, and the unforgettable experience of sleeping overnight at the school.

Community Appreciation Day.

Catholic Schools Week has rolled into this week and we are so happy!! 🎉

We kicked off Catholic Schools Week (take 2 snow edition) with a truly special Community Appreciation Day, filled with gratitude, faith, and school spirit.

We were honored to welcome so many of the incredible groups who support our school every day, including the Honorable Mayor Caba, Perth Amboy Police Department, Perth Amboy Fire Department, our Holy Name Society, Bingo Committee, and members of Saint Anne’s Society. Each group was warmly welcomed by our students, who lovingly created handmade cards of appreciation as a heartfelt thank-you for their service and support.

Our guests enjoyed guided tours of the school building, getting a firsthand look at the classrooms, programs, and spaces where our children learn and grow. After the tours, everyone came together for our Catholic Schools Week pep rally, celebrating not only our guests but also all of our school clubs, our dedicated teachers, and our truly awesome community that makes our school so special.

The morning concluded with a beautiful breakfast shared together—a small but meaningful way to say thank you to those who continually give their time, care, and commitment to our school.

Community Appreciation Day was a wonderful reminder that Catholic education thrives because of the strong partnerships between our students, families, educators, and community. Thank you to everyone who joined us and continue to support our mission.

Field Trip Fun! 🎬

Today, our students enjoyed a special field trip to AMC in Freehold, where we watched David.
Through this powerful story, students learned about the biblical account of David and Goliath—a reminder that courage, faith, and trusting in God can help us overcome even the biggest challenges.
We had a wonderful time, and a huge thank you to our amazing FSA, who truly are the best! This experience was a generous gift to all of our students, including covering the cost of the buses and the theater.
And a special shoutout to Adam from AMC, who always treats us so well and helps make our visits extra special! 🍿✨
What a fantastic day!

Catholic Schools Week – Day Three

The third day of Catholic Schools Week concluded with our joyful Faith, Family, Fun Day. We began with a beautiful morning liturgy, where parents and grandparents joined us in prayer. A special highlight was the inspiring homily by Fr. Ivan, who emphasized that at the heart of Catholic education is not simply academic excellence—important as it is—but something even greater: the formation of the whole person. At Assumption School, children not only learn how to live in the world, but also why they live and for whom they live.
The celebration continued in the school auditorium with a heartfelt presentation by the Sisters, followed by a Sodality spiritual performance, “Devotion to the Seven Sorrows of Mary.” To top it all off, we ended the morning with three exciting games of Bingo! A heartfelt thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Baginsky for organizing such a fun event, and to our FSA Board members for providing delicious cake and coffee for our teachers.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this week so special. Catholic Schools Week is a beautiful reminder of the faith, family, and community that make our school truly extraordinary.

Catholic Schools Week 2026.

Day 1 & Day 2 Highlights at Assumption Catholic Schools Week.
The week kicked off with two incredible days filled with faith, family, creativity, and joyful learning.
Day 1 – Wednesday, January 28 began with prayer and the celebration of our Honor Roll students, grounding the week in gratitude and academic excellence. Students proudly showed school spirit on Blue & Yellow Day, while the halls buzzed with excitement for Anything BUT a Book Bag Day, showcasing impressive creativity across all grades. A highlight of the day was the Special Person Breakfast, where families joined students for prayer, music, and meaningful time together.
Learning came alive across grade levels with engaging activities—from snow-themed faith lessons and literacy games in Pre-K, to hands-on science led by our eighth graders, creative art projects, music adventures, and collaborative classroom experiences. Our older students shined as leaders, teaching younger classmates and spreading kindness through service projects, truly reflecting the strong sense of community at ACS.
Day 2 – Thursday, January 29 continued the excitement with Crazy Hat & Socks Day and an unforgettable Space Dome experience, where students explored the wonders of God’s creation through an immersive journey of space and science. A whole-school activity focused on gratitude, as students wrote heartfelt thank-you letters to their parents, celebrating family during Catholic Schools Week.
Throughout the day, classes blended faith and learning through religion reflections, STEM challenges, creative art projects, faith-based games, and meaningful discussions. From Pre-K watercolor crosses and science fun, to upper-grade faith conversations, quizzes, and shared celebrations, every grade found unique ways to grow in faith, knowledge, and joy.
These first two days perfectly captured the spirit of Catholic Schools Week—celebrating our faith, honoring our families, and rejoicing in the joy of learning together. We can’t wait to continue the celebration!
