ACS’s first-ever softball team.

History was made last night at Assumption Catholic School in Perth Amboy, NJ—ACS’s first-ever softball team took the field!

Our girls played their very first game with heart, determination, and true team spirit. Father Ivan and I are incredibly proud of each and every one of them.

A special thank-you to Coach Bielak and Coach Terron for your dedication, time, and guidance in making this moment possible.

Let’s go, ACS! 🥎

Installation of New Sodality Members.

On Friday, May 1st, Assumption Catholic School proudly celebrated the annual installation ceremony for new members of the Sodality, a cherished faith-based organization open to girls in grades 3 through 8.
The Sodality first began here in 1951, when parish girls gathered for prayer, service, and devotion to Mary, embracing the motto: “To Jesus through Mary.”
In the 1960s, with the opening of our parish school, the Sodality naturally became part of student life. In earlier years, the Missionary Sisters of the Mother of God guided the girls, and today, the Sisters Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará continue this mission. They teach Marian hymns, the Moleben, and the Rosary, while helping the girls grow in faith through monthly meetings, service, and joyful community activities.
Over the years, the school Sodality has remained a beloved part of student life, inspiring young girls to love Mary and to choose “the better part” in their daily lives.
The ceremony was conducted with reverence and grace by the school sisters—Sr. Veronica, Sr. Trijtsi, and Sr. Svitanku—who had prepared the candidates throughout the year.
One of the most moving moments took place following the school Liturgy. During the installation, Fr. Ivan and the sisters placed symbolic blue caps on the new members, a beautiful sign of their commitment to grow in faith and devotion to the Mother of God. Fr. Ivan also blessed the medals and the school’s principal, Mrs. Shumny, presented certificates affirming each girl’s call to live as a young woman of prayer, virtue, and Marian devotion.
Following the ceremony, all were invited to a breakfast sponsored by the School Family Association, providing a joyful opportunity for fellowship and celebration.
May Our Blessed Mother continue to guide and protect all new members of the Sodality as they grow in faith and shine as young leaders in their school community.

Assumption School track program.

What an incredible track meet yesterday at Saint Joseph High School! ACS showed up ready to compete, and our athletes made us proud.

Our youngest runners made their debut, showing courage, excitement, and determination. Our returning athletes also continued to improve, running faster times, competing in more events, and gaining confidence with every race.

After eight years without a track program, it is amazing to see our students back on the track and thriving. The growth, effort, and potential in our children is truly inspiring.

ACS placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in several events across multiple grade levels!

We are so proud of every athlete for their hard work, sportsmanship, and dedication. Whether they earned a medal, set a personal best, or simply gave their all, each student represented ACS with excellence.

⏱️ We will be announcing some absolutely amazing times during morning prayers—stay tuned!

📣 Coming Up Next:
This Thursday will be an ACS-only meet. Come out and support our runners!

THANK YOU: Coach Zakrzewski, Assistant Coaches Mrs. Florez, Mr. Johnson, Ms. Shumny and Mr. Mitchell – our track meets would not be possible without you!

A major shoutout to our VIP’s Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Bielak and to all the parents who froze with us…thank you for supporting our runners!

Family School Association Board Meeting and Spring School Raffle Drawing.

This board has our highest regard. You are dedicated, trustworthy, and hard-working parents who continually bring forward creative and meaningful ideas to strengthen our school.
This year’s raffle that was organized by FSA was more than just a drawing, it was a powerful reflection of the generosity, faith, and commitment that define our community.

Thanks to your incredible support, we have sold over $22,000 worth of tickets and means $11,000 to the school. That is not just a number, it is an investment in our children, their education, their faith, and their future. Thank you all for your continued support and commitment.

What started as a new idea was an amazing success for our school!

Thank you to all our parents who supported this endeavor!

ACS FSA Board Projects

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of the ACS FSA Board! 💙

Because of you, our students have enriching experiences and our staff feels supported and appreciated. Thank you for your time, care, and commitment to our school community. We truly couldn’t do it without you!

Palm Sunday Journey

As Holy week approaches the first grade class has begun their Journey with Jesus. Today the class learned about the true meaning of Palm Sunday. Through reading the story in the Bible, watching a video, coloring pictures, making book of the story and creating palm leaves to cover the path Jesus walked on they began to envision that special  day. Now with the class fully understand the importance of Palm Sunday they proceeded to reenact Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The class cheered for Jesus as he walked shouting “Hosanna, Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
As the lesson ended the class reflected on what they had learned and are looking forward to the second part of their Journey with Jesus!
Take a look in the comments for their video❤️

The Lenten Lock-In Retreat.

The retreat took place at Assumption Catholic School in Perth Amboy, NJ as a special overnight experience centered on prayer, fellowship, and a Lenten journey together. Throughout the retreat, students grew deeper in faith with Christ and stronger in friendship. The event included prayer and meditation with Fr. Ivan, as well as a beautiful candle procession at the church. Students participated in a vocation reflection with the Sisters and took part in faith-building activities and games led by the principal and teachers at the school. The retreat also offered meaningful fellowship with classmates, shared meals, and the unforgettable experience of sleeping overnight at the school.

Community Appreciation Day.

Catholic Schools Week has rolled into this week and we are so happy!! 🎉

We kicked off Catholic Schools Week (take 2 snow edition) with a truly special Community Appreciation Day, filled with gratitude, faith, and school spirit.

We were honored to welcome so many of the incredible groups who support our school every day, including the Honorable Mayor Caba, Perth Amboy Police Department, Perth Amboy Fire Department, our Holy Name Society, Bingo Committee, and members of Saint Anne’s Society. Each group was warmly welcomed by our students, who lovingly created handmade cards of appreciation as a heartfelt thank-you for their service and support.

Our guests enjoyed guided tours of the school building, getting a firsthand look at the classrooms, programs, and spaces where our children learn and grow. After the tours, everyone came together for our Catholic Schools Week pep rally, celebrating not only our guests but also all of our school clubs, our dedicated teachers, and our truly awesome community that makes our school so special.

The morning concluded with a beautiful breakfast shared together—a small but meaningful way to say thank you to those who continually give their time, care, and commitment to our school.

Community Appreciation Day was a wonderful reminder that Catholic education thrives because of the strong partnerships between our students, families, educators, and community. Thank you to everyone who joined us and continue to support our mission.
