On Saturday, September 22, 2012 the smell of barbecue permeated the ACS neighborhood. Beginning at 4 p.m. ACS families and friends came to the school auditorium for a chance to have some good food, catch up with old friends, and make new friends with some of our many new families. This barbecue marked the beginning of a very special year for ACS. We are beginning our countdown to mark the 50th anniversary of bringing Catholic education to the community of Perth Amboy and the surrounding area. On October 12, 2013 a very special celebration will take place to mark this occasion. Mark your calendar so you may join in this day.
ACS faculty and administration members worked all day to make sure that everyone would have a good time. Guests were treated to choices of hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, and barbecued pork. Along with these choices they also had choices of homemade salads like potato salad, pasta salad, corn salad, and some other tasty items. After finishing their meal, and if there was still enough room, the guests moved on to the dessert table where they found many selections from homemade pumpkin cake to the forever favorite Jello with whipped cream.
The faculty and administration would like to thank all of the Assumption Catholic parish families as well as the ACS families for your support. We would also like to thank those that came out to help the teachers prepare for the barbecue: Mrs. Androshchuk, mom to Andrew and Tanya, and Mrs. Machette, mom to Jack in Pre K, and Mrs. Carol Fiore, mom to Miss Fiore, were there all day to cook, set up, and serve; and Mr. Pete Baralecki, dad to Andrew and Mr. Marty Pickering for their grill master skills. Thank you also to Ms. Anna Lawrence for supplying us with a great selection of music. The proceeds from this event will go to bring educational programs to our children or to offset the cost of student field trips.
