Plans for the construction of ACS were initiated by Monsignor Jaroslav Gabro in the late 1950’s. Upon his elevation to the episcopacy in 1960, his successor, Fr. Stephen Sulyk, undertook the completion of this major project. In September of 1963, Ukrainian Assumption School was officially opened.
