Martin Luther King

The First Grade has been learning about American heroes during Social Studies. In observance of Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we have learned about our modern day American hero and the dream he had for all mankind.

We learned that in order to live as children of God, as Dr.King did, we are called to be peace makers. "You do not need fists to win a battle, only powerful words," Dr.King said. He also said, "Love is the key to the problems of the world." In First Grade, we held hands to acknowledge this.

After listening to his speech about his dream of peace, we too shared our own dreams including dreams of having and making peace in the world.
